An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Dental Outreach Centre, based in Birmingham City Centre for a Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse.  We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Dental Nursing team at the Dental Outreach Centre in Birmingham City Centre .

We are a multi-disciplinary team that carry out a variety of different dental treatments under local anaesthetic.

We are looking to recruit to the post below:

Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse 

22.5 hours per week (0.6WTE) 

Base: Dental Outreach Centre - Birmingham City Centre, however, to work flexibly across the service as required

Hours to be worked: Monday to Saturday (8am - 8pm)

Working days to be determined. 

The post-holder must hold a Dental Radiography Certificate, be up to date with IRMER training and able to supply a copy of their CPD log relating to their specialism. 

The Post Holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to. 

Delivery of high-quality clinical nursing support for the specialties across Dental Services Division clinical sites to respond to the complex needs of the patients that meet the specialty criteria.

Main duties of the job

Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs

Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers.

Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.

Support recording of  patient pre-operative assessments. E.g. height weight and blood pressure

Carry out any other duties relevant to this role specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s)

Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department to support the clinical patient pathway.

Identify relevant staff & student who require additional training within the specialty & escalate as appropriate

Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.

Adhere to procedures to support and maintaining achieving national targets of compliance.

Ensure to implement agreed, local Divisional and Trust Policies.

Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Dental Nursing Qualification
  • Post Qualification in Dental Radiography
  • GDC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or Equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in a wide range of dentistry
  • Significant evidence of continued professional development relevant to the Specialty (Radiography)
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrate experience of supporting undergraduates and post-registration staff to deliver high quality patient care and achieve their required educational standards.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence service quality improvement bringing about improved patient outcomes.
  • Evidence informal and formal assessment experience in an educational or healthcare environment
