We are excited to present an exceptional opportunity to join our high performing GAU team, dedicated to supporting patients with early pregnancy and acute gynaecology concerns. This role involves managing shifts, overseeing all aspects of patient flow, and providing comprehensive care to service users.

This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to further develop their skills and share their learning with others. Main duties of the job

Summary of the Role:  The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner, accountable for decision-making and providing advice and resources for patients and health professionals. Key responsibilities include managing shifts, ensuring efficient patient flow, and delivering high quality care to service users. Key duties encompass initial history taking, clinical assessment, requesting tests and investigations, diagnosis, treatment, evaluation of care, early pregnancy ultrasound assessment, and contributing to the continual improvement of quality standards.

We are seeking a highly- motivated and driven individual committed to enhancing patient care and experience. The ideal candidate will possess advanced communication and leadership skills, along with significant nursing experience in gynaecology and early pregnancy settings.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC
  • Post Graduate Certificate Ultrasound in Early Pregnancy module at post graduate level (level 7) (TA/TV)
  • Recognised mentorship or teaching qualification

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Competent in venepuncture, cannulation and intravenous drug administration
  • Current clinical experience practicing within scanning environment
  • Ability to perform gynae ultrasound scans and complete the necessary reporting mechanism
  • Able or willing to learn to perform manual vacuum aspiration (MVA)
  • Able to complete clinical history taking
  • Abel to complete vaginal and speculum examination
  • Specialist knowledge in clinical specialty
  • To be able to take responsibility for a clinical caseload, including decision making, use of initiative and awareness of professional limitations
  • Experience in leadership or management responsibilities
  • Participation in clinical research or audit

  • Any skills which may compliment or enhance the service.

ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Able to work in a team and autonomously and organise own workload
  • Confident to cope with challenging obstetric, gynae medical situations, refer on and work in conjunction with the MDT
  • Assess, analyse and interpret deviation from the norm on bloods, scan and refer any identified concerns to the relevant team
  • Able to mentor, teach and assess other professionals in sonography -relevant to specialty

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of relevant National Standards and guidelines
  • Good knowledge of IT and use of keyboard skills. Able to navigate the necessary clinical systems in relation to ultrasound
  • Able to manage own workload and deputise for the ward manager
  • A positive role model
