Job overview

The post holder will work in collaboration with professionals in both hospital and community settings to give appropriate specialist advice; support and education in relation to all aspects of Menopause and related issues. This is to ensure patients and their families receive sound clinical research based care and have access to the necessary service.

The post holder will be an autonomous nurse practitioner and have the ability to manage complex clinical situations, providing guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior members of staff.

The post holder will assess, plan and implement management plans and arrange discharge and follow up care when necessary.

The post holder will be actively involved in monitoring and developing the service across the Trust to ensure patients receive sustainable high quality care that is safe and effective.

Main duties of the job

·         Participate in the provision of the Menopause Service using an agreed model of assessment and treatment planning liaising with the lead Consultant and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

·         To act as an autonomous nurse practitioner by planning and organising own workload effectively and being accountable for the quality and standard of care delivered.

 

·         To manage and lead Nurse led clinics and effectively complete all assessment and investigations required for diagnosis of the menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency.

 

·         To be aware of the process and guidance around informed consent and the legal and ethical aspects surrounding consent of treatment. Including the ability to manage complex situations when they arise or seek support from relevant services when required.

 

·         To have an extensive knowledge of medicines management and pharmaceutical treatments for the menopause being able to counsel patients effectively on indications, side effects and alternative therapies.

 

·         To be a point of contact for the patients, general public and other health professionals via telephone and e-mail, providing information, advice and guidance as required.

  • First level Nursing Midwifery Registration
  • Mentorship Course/SLAIP/Silver Assessors Course

  • Degree in healthcare related subject
