Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for clinical Band 7's to join our Neonatal Team. The shift lead will work in partnership with a team of highly skilled Consultants and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners who work collaboratively to deliver high quality care to our small patients and their families.
We are a busy Level 2 LNU and care for babies born from 27 weeks gestation. We take pride in providing an environment in which our neonatal families can grow, thrive, and develop.
The neonatal unit at SWBH comprise of total of 29 cots; 5 intensive care cots, 5 high dependency cots and 19 special care cots. We are launching our 8 bedded transitional care unit and are excited to be settled in the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
We have a dedicated and dynamic multidisciplinary team who strive to maintain the highest quality and standards of care to our neonatal population. The successful applicant will join our dedicated team of Neonatologists, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, and Neonatal Community Outreach Team to provide family centered care for our patients and families.
Main duties of the job
Provide leadership and direction to the nursing team.
Provide effective day to day shift management of the Neonatal Unit.
Promote and maintain organisational and professional standards.
Promote a learning environment in the Neonatal Unit.
Promote research and evidence based practice.
To be accountable for the quality of care delivered within the unit by the team and work with our ODN/LMNS

Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience in neonatal setting
- Team leader experience
- Relevant experience in an acute Neo natal setting
- Evidence of previous resource management experience
- Experience in research and audit
Qualification
Essential criteria
- RN Adult or Child Branch/ Midwifery
- Current NMC registration
- Post graduate qualification relevant to clinical speciality Neo Natal Pathway
- Degree level qualification in health related subject or be willing to work towards
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Teaching and Assessing qualifications.
- Neonatal life support (NLS)
Desirable criteria
- Counselling Skills Certificate qualification
- Masters degree or working towards
- European Computer Driving Licence qualifications (ECDL)
