Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control

Job overview
As post holder you will work closely with the Directors of Infection Prevention & Control [DIPC], Executive Lead for IP&C and the Infection Control Doctors [ICD]. The lead nurse will deputise for the Trust's Directors of Infection Prevention and Control [DIPC] as required.
You will oversee the line management of the IP&C nursing and administrative teams [IP&CT]. You will act as the expert nurse they will be accountable with the DIPC’s for ensuring the IP&CT maintain an effective and efficient system throughout the Trust’s for the prevention, investigation and control of infections and any subsequent root cause analysis [RCA] and post infection review [PIR] processes in order to minimise the risks to patients, staff and the public.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must hold a recognised qualification in infection prevention; have significant clinical practice in this field with experience of leading an Infection Prevention Nursing Team. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrable organisational skills and excellent leadership skills in taking forward the IPC agenda. You will act as a role model in promoting the IPC principles across the Trust, influencing and improving the quality of care delivered to our patients.
Full time: 37.5 hours per week. You may be required to participate in emergency or on-call cover on an ad hoc basis or in exceptional circumstances based on the needs of the service (e.g. absence resulting in no other cover, emergency scenarios etc.)

Essential criteria
- Registered with relevant professional organisation, either Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health & Care Professional Council (HCPC)
- Doctoral level qualification or equivalent experience
- Appropriate Degree
- Masters level qualification or equivalent Post registration qualification in IP&C
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post-registration experience
- Significant time working in IP&C with a highly specialised knowledge in a wide variety of clinical specialities
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Skilled in managing and influencing others to deliver IP&C initiatives in the context of organisational goals and strategic objectives
