Job overview

We are looking for motivated passionate and experienced midwives to join our team at Dudley to take on the role of Lead midwife for Community. The successful candidate will take responsible for the safe daily leadership of the Community setting. They will be responsible for the smooth and effective running of the service as well as providing effective leadership to all staff. They will respond appropriately to emergencies and escalate concerns as required. They will  have excellent communication skills, and be a team player with a focus on safety and great patient experience. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the daily management of Community, organising the service activities, resources, staff team and capacity. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of an allocated and defined caseload of staff. They  will be expected to support the Deputy Matron in developing and monitoring services and the quality of care experienced by women and their families as well as maintenance of a safe and secure environment.

Qualifications and skills

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience working as a midwife at band 6 level
  • Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing (mentorship)
  • Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification.
  • Completion of or working towards NIPE
Desirable criteria
  • Successful completion of the a leadership course or willingness to undertake
  • Experience of managing a budget.
  • Demonstration of live mentorship registration.

  • Demonstrates respect for women’s dignity.

Interests and motivation to the job

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current clinical development, evidence based practices and professional issues affecting midwifery
