Job overview
The Perinatal Mental Health Service is a specialist service providing inpatient, and community treatment for mothers’ who experience mental health problems during pregnancy or following the birth of their baby. Chamomile Suite is a purpose built 10 bedded inpatient unit offering conjoint admission for mothers and their babies.
We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated Deputy Ward Manager for our inpatient service. Applicants should be passionate about delivering a high level of individualised inpatient care, have excellent leadership skills and should have a genuine interest in perinatal mental health.
The clinical team is highly specialised and have multiple roles with in the MDT, including, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, nursery nurses, healthcare assistants, occupational therapists and psychologists. We also work closely with Action Against Post Partum Psychosis who provide the ward with excellent Peer support/ lived experience workers.
Candidates should be an experienced mental health nurse, with experience in clinical leadership within a ward environment, the ability to ensure that high quality clinical care is delivered to patients whilst role modelling integrity and professional values . Experience within Perinatal or Female Acute Inpatients setting would be desirable.
Care is provided over a 24 hour period and all team members work rotational shift patterns including days, nights and weekend.

To deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.

To be a Clinical lead that ensures high quality care is delivered to the patients.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with over 12 months experience as Band 5
- Able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the Perinatal Service
- Ability to role model professional values and best practice to the clinical team in a ward environment
Desirable criteria
- Able to demonstrate a wide range of experience within a clinical environment and management of acutely unwell patients
- Knowledge of Perinatal illness and the risks associated
- Can demonstrate an understanding of different leadership styles, how to use those styles and how they can impact upon staff
