Job overview

We are looking for an Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) to work within Respiratory  Internal Medicine at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.

You will be a key member of the Respiratory medicine nursing team. The post holder will be based within the Respiratory department and will manage patients with a range of respiratory conditions. This will include Modality work, new and follow up patients, triaging and running respiratory clinics, interstitial lung disease clinics and hot clinics.

 

Main duties of the job

The ACP is accountable for independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with Respiratory conditions

The post holder will be a 1st level registered nurse or registered healthcare professional and hold an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent at MSc level.

You will work as an autonomous practitioner within a defined clinical area, delivering all aspects of management and care to a wide range of patients with varying needs, encompassing advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and clinical management skills that are evidence based and deliver high quality patient centred care in accordance with their scope of practice.

The post holder will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with relevant professional body- e.g. NMC/HCPC
  • Masters Degree in Advanced Practice
  • Independent non-medical prescribing, if from a core profession in which NMP is supported or when relevant to the role.
  • Life Support qualification
  • Portfolio of evidence
Desirable criteria
  • ILS/ALS/APLS/ATLSdelete as appropriate
  • Leadership qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive clinical experience
  • Excellent clinical and practical skills
  • Evidence of practice within the four pillars of Advanced Practice
  • Direct supervision of junior staff
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and the practical application of new skills to the workplace
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within speciality
