Job overview

At SWBH we pride ourselves in providing Specialist services for our diverse poplulation. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic midwife with a special interest in Domestic Abuse to join our team of specialist midwives in the Phoenix Team.

The postholder will be responsible for developing the Domestic Abuse service by proactively generating practice innovation and demonstrating expert knowledge and skills . The postholder will also be able to work autonomously within the area of speciality and in collaboration with the wider multi disciplinary team, utilising opportunities to educate and shape policy accross the service

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist advice to staff caring for women and families affected by Domestic Abuse.
  • To provide advise and support for women and families directly inpacted by Domestic Abuse.
  • Identifying gaps in areas of service provision and developing guidelines/SOPs and staff training
  • To work collaboratively  with the corporate safeguarding team
  • To look at incidents at provide actions from findings 
  • To be responsible for the planning and delivery of training on domestic abuse
  • To establish an ongoing cycle of clinical audit to evaluate practice

Essential criteria
  • Registered Practising Midwife
  • Evidence of specialist interest in Domestic Abuse
  • Experience of deaing with complex safeguading cases
  • Evidence of facilitating teaching sessions
  • Evidence of developing guidelines
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of leadership development
  • Experience of report writing
  • Evidence of delivering high quality teaching to staff groups

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife (NMS Professional registration)
  • First Level degree in Midwifery or related subject or evidence of equivalent study
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Evidence of any additional experience/qualifications in Domestic Abuse
  • Mentor/assessor training

  • Teaching qualification
