Job overview
The Deputy Head of Nursing is a key member of the Divisional Leadership team who will lead, inspire and develop the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP workforce within the Division and across the Trust to deliver high quality, patient centered clinical care that meets the needs of the patient using highly specialist knowledge. The post holder will be clinically accountable for the clinical service within the Division. The post holder in partnership with the Divisional leadership team (Divisional Head of Nursing, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Divisional Medical Directors) plays an integral role in the development and implementation of both Divisional and Trust strategy, with particular focus on quality improvement ensuring high clinical quality standards are maintained in line with Trust, National statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice guidance and standards. The post holder will motivate and empower the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP workforce working collectively with the Senior Nursing Leadership team. The post holder will have budget management responsibility.
Main duties of the job
Accountable for the effective delivery of nursing across the range of services within the Division, working in conjunction with and in the absence of the Head of Nursing.
Develop positive working relationships with Clinicians and Managers to ensure the Trust is at the forefront of best professional practice and service delivery
Act as a visible role model, creating a supportive, professional ethos to empower staff to contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centered lower carbon care.
Provide responsive and effective professional leadership for Nursing, Midwifery, Health Visiting and AHPs across the organisation at all levels.
Influence the local and national professional agenda in conjunction with the senior Nurse team including a contribution towards reducing health inequalities. Lead the implementation and further development of clinical indicators/metrics ensuring effective systems of reporting, action planning and sustainability.
Identify and progress opportunities for Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors and AHPs to be innovative and creative, utilising research and evidence base within organisational practice.
Critically appraise and synthesise the outcomes of relevant research, evaluations and audits and apply the information when seeking to improve practice.
