Job overview
Amersham Theatres are looking for a Theatre Support Worker to join our growing team. As an elective surgery site for the trust, we support operations from several specialties, including Plastic surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Oculo-Plastic surgery.
You will be supporting the care of patients undergoing local-anaesthetic operations under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or operating department practitioner (ODP) and contribute to their support. Successful candidates will support theatre practitioners in the delivery of patient-focused care in our clinical surgical teams.
If shortlisted, you will be required to undertake an assessment, that should take approximately 15 minutes.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in circulating duties under the supervision of trained theatre staff
- collect sets and instruments for operating lists
- Maintain stock levels in the theatre and preparation areas
- Work as a member of the theatre team
- Carry out date checks on sterile instruments report any discrepancies

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- GCSE A-C or Functional Skills in English and Maths (Level 1 or 2)
Desirable criteria
- Care Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Understands nature of HCA duties Patient Care and Housekeeping duties
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of working in a busy environment
- Experience in a customer focused environment
- Previous experience in a health care setting
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers in English
