Trosolwg o'r swydd

Through strong clinical leadership and visibility, the post holder will lead the infant  feeding service team in developing and improving the infant feeding service provided at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT). 

The post holder is required to work in, and provide care in, all areas within the Maternity Services and participate in future service developmentsproviding  midwifery care in line with National and local recommendations 

The post holder is responsible for the effective management of staff within the clinical area and has clinical responsibility for women during pregnancy, labour and postnatally. 

The post holder will provide specialist services for complex breastfeeding problems, including leading the existing frenotomy service. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Manage the clinical area of responsibility, leading on infant feeding. 

  • Lead and support a tailored education programme in line with national and local agendas and recommendations. 

  • Manage and lead a team of registered and non-registered staff to support the Trust feeding agenda, ensuring management of staff is in line with Trust guidance.  

  • Assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period for women and their babies with a focus on infant feeding. 

  • Work autonomously within guidelines and sphere of professional practice. 

  • Act as a mentor for midwives and other staff providing leadership within the practice environment with a focus on infant feeding. 

  • Provide a full range of Health Education and social care advice to women in the hospital setting.  

  • Promote commitment to the Trust.

  • Knowledge of Midwifery issues in the wider context of the NHS
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of Midwifery
  • Clinical expertise in the management of infant feeding concerns
  • Capable of providing clinical leadership to the team
  • Ability to undertake standard setting
  • Knowledge of responsibilities under the Health and Safety Act 1974
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct
  • Understanding of learning, teaching and leadership styles and their application
  • Understanding of team motivation
  • Commitment to the principles of Clinical Governance, Clinical Supervision
