The Resuscitation Team is part of the Practice Education Department and is responsible for providing resuscitation services to fulfil the Trusts resuscitation training needs.
We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated individual with excellent communication skills and experience of resuscitation to join our team. You will be developed to provide resuscitation training in both adult and paediatric resuscitation, attend cardiac arrests and participate in the day to day running of the resuscitation service as well as the wider Practice Education Department.
The successful applicant will be offered opportunities to develop their resuscitation, clinical and leadership skills, as well as developing skills in practice education and the facilitation of simulation.

Main duties of the job
The Resuscitation Officer will assist in assessing the training needs of the multidisciplinary workforce of Milton Keynes University Hospital. The post holder will primarily be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of resuscitation training and will assist in implementing and maintaining a robust resuscitation service which includes the provision of simulation, education, maintenance of resuscitation training equipment and audit across the Trust. The post holder will be expected to facilitate and deliver the teaching of both adult and paediatric resuscitation.
The post holder will act independently in line with Trust policies and procedures and will work without direct supervision. They will be accountable for their own professional actions, referring to their manager, as necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Education and Training
• To participate in the delivery of Basic Life Support, Immediate Life Support and Paediatric Immediate Life Support and assist in the delivery of Advanced Life Support training courses
• To ensure maintenance of accurate training records.
Clinical
• To provide specialist advice and teaching on the assessment and management of the acutely ill patient in clinical situations
• To attend where possible cardiac arrests within the hospital and act as an active member of the cardiac arrest team whilst operating within own scope of practice, swiftly assessing, and interpreting the needs of the patient in order to provide high-quality emergency interventions.
Research, Audit and Development
• To assist with data collection of the National Cardiac Arrest Audit
• To assist with internal audits on cardiac arrest activity
Personal and Professional Development
• To take responsibility of own professional development, ensuring that you develop within the role
• To ensure that they are up to date with any new developments, recommendations or guidelines and are competent in the skills that they are expected to provide

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Current registration with NMC, or HCPC in an appropriate discipline (e.g. nurse, paramedic, ODP)
- Educated to degree level
- Immediate Life Support (ILS)/Advanced Life Support (ALS) Provider
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) Instructor
- Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- ALS Instructor
- European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPLS)/Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) Provider or Instructor
- Alert/AIM or equivalent Instructor
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive clinical experience in an acute environment (ED, ICU, CCU, Theatres, Paramedic)
- Specialist knowledge, clinical experience, and skills in the different areas of resuscitation
- Evidence of teaching and facilitation of group learning
- Previous experience as a Resuscitation or Clinical Skills or Simulation Trainer
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proven ability to teach and facilitate learning in both a ward and a classroom
- Computer literate (Microsoft packages)
- Sound and up to date clinical skills to an advanced level
