General Haematology Specialist Support Nurse

Band 6

Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse to work within our general haematology specialist nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time when our services are developing rapidly.

The role is varied, and involves coordinating and guiding patients and families that may be with the service lifelong for conditions such as sickle cell disease, TTP and  ITP.  It involves working with a multi-disciplinary team that includes clinicians, physios, psychologists and inpatient, ED and day unit teams. You will have excellent skills in communication and time-management, and be able to work under pressure. Specialist training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating care as a practitioner with specialist haematology skills.

Provide advice and clinical expertise to staff.

Provide specialist clinical advice for patients and carers.

Carry a caseload, and take responsibility for the management of allocated cases.

Improve and maintain standards of care within the specialty.

Develop the skills of generalist nurses to enable them to provide a high standard of care for patients within the specialty.
