Clinical Endoscopist

Band 8a

Job overview

The CUH endoscopy unit has 7 procedure rooms and is open 7 days a week.  We are an accredited Bowel Cancer Screening Centre and host the Cambridge Endoscopy Training Academy.  We undertake a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including complex EMR, ERCP, spyglass, PEG and cystogastrostomy.

We are looking for an experienced JAG accredited Clinical Endoscopist who is motivated to support the development of a Clinical Endoscopist team at CUH.  You will have gained independence in Upper and Lower GI procedures, be a non-medical prescriber (or willing to undertake) and achieved (or in the process of gaining) accreditation for Bowel Cancer Screening colonoscopy.

The Clinical Endoscopist will have their own dedicated lists and will be able to work independently, supported by a wider team of medical Endoscopists. There will be a requirement to backfill lists to ensure that service needs are met. The Clinical Endoscopist will be providing training lists and will have the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge Endoscopy Training Academy.

The role of Clinical Endoscopist requires an individual able to provide a high standard of patient centred, expert care to our patients, with the ability and confidence to make advanced clinical decisions based on up to date clinical evidence. Advanced communication skills with experience in breaking bad news is essential.

Main duties of the job

Whilst the post will be based in Cambridge, future developments may mean some lists will be undertaken at other local locations.

We would strongly encourage you to have an informal visit/discussion about this post.

Main duties

•    Support the Clinical Endoscopist team with responsibility for ensuring high quality, cost-effective healthcare
•    Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis implementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills.
