Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a General Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. This post works very closely with the general paediatric consultant of the week and will be present in the clinical area and on ward rounds each day. The successful applicant ideally will be a nurse prescriber and be able to work autonomously as required to review patients and support with discharges.
The post holder will have extensive paediatric experience in the clinical setting and an understanding of the support and services available in the community. They will need to show strong leadership and act as an advocate for the patients and families in their care. Teaching and education is an important part of the role, both to educate colleagues and to train families and carers.
The applicant should have excellent communication and organisational skills to manage their case load and to liaise with external and internal colleagues.
This is an exciting time to be joining Cambridge University Hospital with the imminent building of the Childrens Hospital.
Main duties of the job
• The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures
• Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students
• Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence-based care
• Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area

- • RSCN/ RN Child
- • First Degree (or equivalent level) in nursing or health-related subject
- • Teaching and Assessing qualification
