Job overview
We are looking for keen and enthusiastic professionals to work within our Safeguarding Team. Previous safeguarding experience is essential.
We are looking for people to provide advice and assessment of risk and triage to all staff on all safeguarding matters. To support the CPFT Safeguarding Team in promoting sound professional practice in relation to Safeguarding through training, consultation and supervision. To provide advice and support to Trust staff to engage and work cohesively and effectively in safeguarding processes.
Main duties of the job
- To provide advice and assessment of risk and triage to all staff on all safeguarding matters.
- To support the CPFT Safeguarding Team in promoting sound professional practice in relation to Safeguarding through training, consultation and supervision.
- To provide advice and support to Trust staff to engage and work cohesively and effectively in safeguarding processes.
- To provide individual consultation, guidance and supervision to staff when requested regarding vulnerability, safeguarding and protection concerns.
- To communicate appropriately and in a timely manner on all issues of a highly sensitive nature.
- To work in partnership with other agencies/partners to investigated allegations and participate in safeguarding and protection plans.
- Assist the CPFT Safeguarding Team in evaluating and auditing the quality and effectiveness of safeguarding supervision and advice.

Supervisory and advisory role
· To provide advice to all staff on all safeguarding matters.
· To provide supervision and guidance to staff.
· To provide advice and support to Trust staff to engage effectively in safeguarding processes.
· To provide individual consultation, guidance and supervision to staff when requested regarding vulnerability, safeguarding and protection concerns.
· Assist the Safeguarding Team in evaluating and auditing the quality and effectiveness of safeguarding supervision and advice.
Training and development
· To support in the development and delivery of the safeguarding training strategy to all staff within CPFT.
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services to ensure that all training meets requirements of all statutory and intercollegiate guidance, including Section 11.
· To provide training to external organisations or on an interagency basis where appropriate.
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services to strategise and ensure the training offer meets the needs of the organisation.
· To participate in regular supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and Trust policy.
· To participate in the Trust’s annual appraisal process.
· To attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.
Clinical Governance
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services in ensuring that the Trust’s safeguarding arrangements are evidence based, represent best practice and are line with LSCB policy and procedure.
· To work with the in ensuring that the Trust has arrangements in place to meet its statutory safeguarding duties.
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services to ensure the completion of Individual Management Review’s and other internal reviews of practice when appropriate.
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services to ensure the implementation of actions arising from Serious Case Reviews and other internal reviews of practice.
· To work with the Named Nurse/Heads of Services in monitoring adherence through audit and evaluation to safeguarding policies and procedures

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional Qualification
- Post registration education and/or training in safeguarding
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working with vulnerable children and/or adults and their families initiating safeguarding children/adult procedures
- Experience in multi-agency assessment/working together with partner agencies
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to critically analyse safeguarding issues
- Ability to provide safeguarding expertise and advise to a wide range of professionals both across the Trust and to external partner agencies
Knowledge & Understanding
Essential criteria
- Sound working knowledge of relevant national and local policy and procedure in relation to safeguarding and mental capacity
