Job overview

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team on Holly Ward and the Paediatric Assessment Unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital on a 12 month contract to cover maternity leave.
We are a friendly, supportive team that is passionate about delivering high quality care to our patients and their families, whilst working closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Please note that we can only consider applications from individuals with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are currently unable to support OSCE.
Main duties of the job
We are a 19 bedded ward comprising of 6 en-suite cubicles, 3 four bedded bays and one HDU room
We are a general paediatric ward receiving children from 0 - 18 years dependent on condition. We have a busy day surgery area within the ward and take up to 6 surgical patients per day. Our Paediatric Assessment Unit takes up to 9 patients and is where GP's and other health professionals can refer into for admissions and / or assessment, as well as taking patients on their journey from the Emergency Department.
Our nursing associates predominately work within our main ward and day surgery areas.

As part of this role you will be expected to rotate to Amazon Ward at Peterborough City Hospital when clinical need arises.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Deliver high quality evidence based care.
- Ensure that patient care remains a priority in inter-professional practice and that referrals to the MDT are timely and discharge planning takes place.
- Be professionally accountable for your actions and omissions.
- Share best practice with colleagues and the wider MDT
- Ensure that you are individually aware of changes in guidelines and policies that impact on clinical practice.
- Maintain own professional registration complying with the professions standards and identify own development needs.
- Uphold the values and reputation of your profession and the Trust at all times.
- Be open and candid with all service users about all aspects of care and treatment, including when any mistakes or harm have taken place.
- Have the courage to speak up and report where care, clinical practice,
behaviours or values go against that as set by the NMC and the Trust
