Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and organised individual to join the friendly Haematology/Oncology Ward team to support the registered nurses to deliver excellent patient care.

 

Main duties of the job

You will be based within the 20 bedded ward helping support and care for patients requiring assistance with their activities of daily living and supporting all infection control practices. You must possess excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team as well as on your own. You will need to be calm, professional and efficient. This can be a demanding role and it is essential you enjoy being a team player.

Person specification

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
  • Ability to complete written and electronic records accurately and undertake competency-based learning
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of the Care Certificate or equivalent experience
  • NVQ / QCF Level 2 in a health-related subject or equivalent experience

Key Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English verbally, in writing, via IT and using the telephone
Desirable criteria
  • Reliable punctual and flexible to meet service needs

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience caring for others or providing customer service
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar care role
  • Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting
