CARING FOR PEOPLE - KEEPING PEOPLE WELL

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (the UHB) is a Smoke Free Health Board. Smoking is banned across all of the UHB sites. Staff are therefore not able to smoke in the hospital grounds or on any other UHB premises.

The UHB reserves the right to close this vacancy after 24 hours if a large number of suitable applications are received. Therefore we encourage early applications to ensure consideration for this post.

All applicants are invited to apply in Welsh, any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.

With effect from 1st April 2017 points 1-5 on the AFC pay scales will be adjusted to £16,523 to reflect the incorporation of the Living Wage Foundation rate of £8.45 per hour.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website.

Come and join us by celebrating our '70 Nurses in September' event on Saturday 22nd September from 10am to 3pm to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS. We are looking to recruit 70 nurses to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. We have hours to suit you in an area that you would love to work in.

We have positions in medicine, surgery, acute nursing, theatres, community nursing, the prison service, children’s nursing, mental health and many more, so if your preference is intensive care or community nursing or anything in between we have something to offer you. Many of these departments are tertiary services which provide specialist and highly skilled services for the wider population of Wales.

If you are undecided about the next step along your career path or would like to learn more about the vacancies on offer we would love to see you at our open day. You'll have the opportunity to speak to the many nurses who will be on hand to help with your queries - you might even go home with a job offer as will be offering interviews on the day. You can speak to the many nurses who are already enjoying working for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Are you a student nurse training in Wales? Come and speak to us about where you would like to work when you qualify, make us your first choice, come and meet the team. We will have staff available to talk about student streamlining. If you are a student training outside Wales then you can apply for a position of your choice or come along on the day.

As well as a dynamic, friendly working environment we offer a full induction programme and an individual personal development plan to guide your development within the role. We have an educational pathway to support ongoing learning development to enable all staff to maximise their potential in providing safe and effective care, supporting staff in academic learning. We have specialist staff working in a wide range of advanced roles who are keen to share their knowledge and skills with those who want to follow in their footsteps. This is supported by very proactive educational teams throughout the UHB, with all areas offering electronic self-rostering to help support your work life balance requirements.

As we are based in Cardiff and the surrounding area, we operate in the thriving capital city of Wales, which is the fastest growing city outside of London. Cardiff offers fabulous shopping outlets, vibrant nightlife with leading music and entertainment events. It has excellent transport links due to its proximity with the M4. It also offers the beautiful scenery of National Parks and coastlines, with plenty of outdoor experiences and activities.

So come along to our 70 Nurses in September to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS:
