The Research and Innovation Department are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the role of the Clinical Research Team Leader.
We are seeking applications from individuals with significant relevant experience in the delivery of (predominantly) NIHR adopted studies who can demonstrate professional leadership qualities, an in-depth knowledge of research processes and a good understanding of research governance and the research landscape within an NHS environment.
There are so many opportunities ahead which we are looking for the successful candidate to be a key part of the delivery and leadership on. Having recently opened a dedicated out-patient facility CRU (Clinical Research Unit) and taken ownership of a Mobile Research Unit (MRU) we have the ambition to extending opportunities for our patients and general local population to access research opportunities to participate in research and health benefits at, and beyond our secondary care physical locations in line with the government’s national plan and NIHR priority areas.
Main duties of the job
Alongside line management duties, the successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the successful running of the R&I department as a whole and will be involved in decision making around research governance, business & performance, and finance.
You will be expected to liaise with the clinical teams regarding research engagement and involvement at all levels, providing support and guidance to Principal Investigators and Chief Investigators as well as the wider MDT.
You will contribute towards spotting positive opportunities for the R&I department to expand their portfolio and improve their performance.
You will be expected to positively contribute towards annual events such as International Clinical Trials' Day and additional promotional activity locally, regionally and nationally utilising local networks and social/digital platforms.
You will liaise with senior nurses, midwives and managers to ensure adherence to organisational policies and procedures. You will also be expected to engage and build positive working relationships with external stakeholders with a particular focus on Life Science/Industry partnerships.
You will support the involvement and feedback from both the public and research participants to ensure that we provide the best care and best experience possible.
Working for our organisation
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
• The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.
• Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
• Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current unrestricted NMC resistration (Registered Adult Nurse / Registered Children's Nurse, RN Child or Registered Midwife)
- First degree in Nursing or health related subject or equivalent level of experience
- Teamching and Assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998 or C&G 730 / current qualification in mentorship or supervision in clinical practice
- Current Good Clinical Practive (GCP) certification (within last 2 years)
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Research related qualification e.g. MRes/other
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in line managing staff
- Significant experience in the delivery of clinical research in an NHS setting
Desirable criteria
- Practical experience in the general promotion of clinical research
