Clinical support worker

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for recruitment of two existing Band 3 posts in the Discharge Lounge at Leighton Hospital. This post comprises, earlies/lates or long days, Monday to Friday. There is an occasional opportunity for night and weekend work, but this is very much on an ad hoc basis.

The Discharge Lounge is a fast paced environment that caters for patients who are being discharged that day or the following day, who may be admitted for an overnight stay, typical turnover is between 20 and 35 patients a day.

The discharge lounge is a small but supportive team and successful candidates will be encouraged to participate across a wide range of skills and attend training and development opportunities as they arise.

Previous HCA or CSW experience would be ideal, but not essential as training will be provided.

Informal visits are welcomed if candidates have no prior discharge lounge experience. The posts are especially suitable to staff who prefer weekday working. Early shifts commence 7.30 am to 1.30pm, Late shifts 2pm to 8pm and long days 7.30 to 8pm.

Main duties of the job

General CSW duties as per job description. Venepuncture, observations blood sugar monitoring, collecting patients from acute wards to bring them to the lounge, taking handovers, liaising with external agencies and ambulance partners.

Working for our organisation
