Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic registered nurses  to join our busy surgical ambulatory care unit. The post holders will be expected to manage urgent surgical patients referred direct from GP, ED & Urgent Care areas requiring early assessment and treatment of new patients; alongside patients returning for ongoing management of  their symptoms on an emergency follow up basis. 

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for patient focused candidates with good clinical and interpersonal skills who are committed to providing a friendly and efficient service for our patients.

You will work as part of a small team to provide early assessment of new patients and reassessment / management of patients returning for treatment or review. The department can be fast paced at times and all team members are expected to work together to maintain high standards of cleanliness at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1) Admission and management of patients, including initial assessment & liaison with the surgical team to establish a plan of care.

2) Monitoring of vital signs, pain management  & delivery of prescribed care

3) Patient interventions such as venepuncture, cannulation, wound / drain management & ECGs

4) Administer oral & IV medication in accordance with trust policy & NMC code of professional conduct

5) Communication with patients & SACU team members

6) Accurate & detailed record keeping via Meditech DCS

7) Maintain a clean and tidy environment with strict adherence to IPC policies.
