Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Nurse to join the Pain Management Service within East Cheshire NHS Trust. The role will involve working in the Acute Pain Services. The Acute Pain Service operates within Macclesfield Hospital; it is a hospital wide service covering a range of specialties such as, general surgery, orthopaedics, medical, obstetrics and urgent care. In addition the Acute Pain Service also accepts referrals to see in-patients with chronic pain problems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, with post registration clinical experience working ideally at Band 6 level and with experience and a keen interest in pain management. You must be able to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary team, and be able to accept the responsibility of working autonomously, often under pressure.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to organise your own workload, manage your time effectively and be able to manage challenging situations and provide clinical support and guidance. You will have the skills to troubleshoot clinical problems in the area of pain management and be able to plan and deliver pain management education packages to multidisciplinary teams.

You will be a confident communicator, able to build strong professional relationships within the multidisciplinary team, hospital environment and external agencies. You will be computer literate and have a sound understanding/experience of audit. 

You will have current 1st level registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, be educated to degree level or higher (or willing to work towards it) and hold a recognised teaching/mentoring qualification. If not already registered, you will be expected to qualify as an independent prescriber.
