We have an exciting opportunity to join our maternity team as an Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Failsafe Officer.

The post holder will provide comprehensive administrative and data management support to the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinator. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of screening records, supporting the effective operation of failsafe systems, and maintaining compliance with national standards for the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programme.

You will play a key role in tracking and monitoring screening pathways, identifying and escalating any gaps or delays, and contributing to the delivery of safe, timely, and high-quality care for women and newborns.

Hours per week: 15.00

Main duties of the job

 

  1. Support the Screening Coordinator in maintaining, monitoring, and developing screening databases and failsafe systems for the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programme.
  2. Record and monitor all antenatal and newborn screening blood results on a weekly basis, promptly escalating missed, delayed, or incomplete screening to the Screening Coordinator.
  3. Ensure antenatal and newborn screening data meets National Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirement

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education to GCSE level, including English and Mathematics
Desirable criteria
  • Customer Care Qualification
  • IT qualification (e.g. ECDL European Computer Driving Licence).

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of IT systems
  • High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of antenatal care and maternity services, including ANNB (Antenatal and Newborn Screening) screening.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative to effectively prioritise workload.
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes of work within tight deadlines.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
