Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- First Level degree or relevant qualifications
- Sign off Mentorship
Desirable criteria
- MSc (Master of Science) Advanced Practice
- Advanced Communication/ counselling skills training
- Teaching qualification/module
- Masters level study or module in health examination in clinical system/s relevant to clinical area
- Independent (V300) prescriber
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced knowledge of the pathology of disease and illness processes
- Advanced knowledge of the effects of the ageing process and needs of vulnerable adults in relation to their health and well-being
- Understanding of Clinical Governance
- Evidence of extensive expert professional/clinical knowledge managing acutely unwell patients in the community, primary or acute setting.
- Knowledge and experience of colorectal nursing and lower GI
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Able to sustain and develop relationships across professional boundaries.
- Leadership skills and excellent decision making capabilities
- Ability to work independently
- Able to effectively manage resources e.g. prescribing
- Problem-solving, prioritising and delegating appropriately Time management
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work logically and complete tasks
- Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of local health needs strategies
- Knowledge of the integration of local and interagency strategies
- Ability to actively participate at strategic level to highlight clinical needs/gaps and aid in the implementation of service development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of extensive experience and transferable skills within an advanced practice role within a related setting
- Surgical/colorectal/oncology experience.
- Previous experience of managing change and project management
Desirable criteria
- Ability to lead, influence and develop individuals and teams
- Proven experience of working as an independent practitioner
- Evidence of senior community nursing.
- IRMER trained
- Experience of leading, planning and completing audit/research.
