Are you a registered children’s nurse looking for a new challenge or to consolidate your new skills?  We are looking for a children’s nurse (RN Child /RSCN) to join our friendly and supportive team.

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills and a drive to provide high quality care.  We actively encourage personal development and offer preceptorship and an ongoing competency based framework will be provided to ensure support to successful individuals. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to include weekends, night duties and bank holidays.

The children’s unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital includes a 16 bedded unit for both medical and surgical patients, and a 5 bedded observation and assessment unit. We also have a Children’s out-patients and Specialist Nurses for Diabetes, Epilepsy, Asthma, Allergy, Eczema and Research.  We have a dedicated team of Children’s Community Nurses to facilitate health care for children in their own home.  We actively encourage rotation into all these areas and opportunities to develop your area of special interest.

This post is to cover Maternity leave for 12 months

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, providing a high standard of holistic family centred care to the children and families, with the ability to promote family centred care and establish good relationships with children and families.
  • To communicate effectively at all levels within the multidisciplinary team.
  • To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior staff.
