Preceptee Midwife - Band 5

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

We are excited to welcome enthusiastic and committed Band 5 midwives to join North Cheshire and Mersey Foundation NHS Trust. We are looking for compassionate individuals who are passionate about delivering high quality, safe and person-centred care, and who want to make a meaningful difference to the families we support.

This opportunity is ideal for newly qualified midwives who have recently completed, or are nearing completion of a UK midwifery programme. You will hold, or be working towards a degree in midwifery and bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, alongside a commitment to developing as a confident and well-rounded clinical midwife across all areas of maternity care.

You will gain experience across a variety of clinical settings, supporting women and birthing people with a wide range of needs, and will be encouraged to develop your clinical decision making, escalation skills and holistic approach to care. You will be supported within our continuity maternity teams, alongside a structured and supportive preceptorship programme to help you transition into practice with confidence.

Our maternity team is friendly, inclusive and supportive with a strong focus on continuous improvement and positive change.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder will work within all areas of the maternity unit, assessing, implementing and evaluating care throughout antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.

We ask our staff to be flexible within their role so we can provide the most effective and safe care, working with a well functioning multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest quality care.

For further information please see job description for main duties of the role.

Working for our organisation

North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust is a caring and compassionate organisation that is both ambitious and innovative. We are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our patients and providing a positive experience of our staff.  We aspire to be outstanding for our patients, our communities and our staff and are committed to being a great place to receive healthcare, work and learn.

Straddling the neighbouring boroughs of Warrington and Halton we are part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care system.  Our hospitals are ideally situated to meet the growing healthcare needs of the 330,000 population of these boroughs.

Warrington Hospital is home to our emergency, critical care and maternity services, Halton Hospital is focused on elective procedures and the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, although many services are offered at both sites and in community hubs.

A CQC-rated ‘good’ organisation with ‘outstanding’ features, we are working towards university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.

We employ nearly 5,000 people from over 80 nationalities, striving to be a diverse, inclusive employer and recognised leader in equality. We support flexible working, welcoming flexible applications. Proud of our many accreditations, we are embedding an anti-racist approach in all we do.
