Bank Dental Nurse, Barrow Emergency Dental Service

An opportunity has arisen to expand the emergency dental service team. We are seeking to recruit  enthusiastic and highly motivated, qualified GDC registered Dental Nurses to  work within our busy Emergency Dental  Service at our  Barrow clinic. 

Sessions are held weekday evenings Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 17:30 until 21:30

Saturday ,Sundays and Bank Holidays 08:30 until 12:30

This is a bank position and sessions will be offered as and when cover is needed.

Main duties of the job

The role  includes the full range of Clinical Dental Nurse duties as outlined in the job description. A  small sample: 

· Clinical Duties. Prepares surgery and all clinical apparatus for clinical activity. Arranges appropriate instruments, medicaments and materials for clinical use which includes mixing dental materials – This requires handling of fine, specialised instruments and the manipulation and transfer of these instruments throughout all procedures.

· Assembly and dismantling of specialised equipment for use and cleaning.

· Reassures new patients.

· Anticipating the needs of the dental Practitioner.

· Receives patients, (this entails communicating complex information to patients who may have learning difficulties, disabilities, elderly people and children), ensures availability of clinical records.

The trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for new to registration Nursing Associates

Registered Nursing Associates returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00 Deducted from salary over a 4 month period or a one-off payment.

Enhanced Check: £49.50 + administration cost of £6.50 = £56.00 Deducted from salary over a 4 month period or a one-off payment.
