We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Clinical Support Worker to join our family here on the Acute Surgical Unit & SEAC.

Main duties of the job
Acute Surgical Unit is a busy environment that cares for a diverse range of patient groups.
You will join a proud, efficient and hardworking team who are committed to exceeding the expectations of their patients.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good general education- basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care related area
Desirable criteria
- Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in care related area
- Completed Trust Support Worker Programme/Care Certificate
- ECDL or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working with the general public
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working with patients in a care environment
Skills, ability and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood).
- Good basic hygiene skills
- Ability to follow a clear instruction and feed back to senior staff.
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative or with minimal supervision.
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of the NHS structure and current issues
- IT skills to basic level
