Job overview

A great opportunity has become available for qualified Band 5 staff nurses to join our team here at Millom Community Hospital. These posts will be  rotational working both on the ward and within the district nursing team.

We have a 30 hour contract available  which will be worked on a internal rotation basis. This includes early shift 07;00 -15:00, Late shift 12:00 -20:00 and nightshift 19:30 - 07:30 all shifts include rotational weekends.

The role will involve taking charge of the in patient unit which has 9 beds and ensuring a high standard of safe care is given at all times and working along side the District nursing team in the community.

The successful candidate should hold the relevant qualifications but additional training will be given where required.

Main duties of the job

When working in the in-patient ward -to take charge of the unit particularly  in the absence of the manager and Band 6 clinical lead.

To keep the patients and staff safe at all times and to deliver a very high standard of care to all our patients.

It will be expected that the successful candidate will liaise with all members of the MDT team and communicate to other staff members  accurate information where needed.

To support junior staff members and to be a role model for those working along side the nurse.

When working in the District nursing team there will be an expectation that the successful candidate will develop the required skills if not already possessed to work effectively within the team.

 

 

 

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
