Band 2 Health Care Assistant various hours available

We are seeking to recruit Healthcare assistants for Ward 7 at West Cumberland Hospital. We are looking for caring, dedicated, innovative and motivated Healthcare Assistants to work as part of a newly created team. Ward 7 is a 12 bedded Acute Medical ward caring for low acuity and dependency patients with acute medical conditions. The ward will be opened to create additional capacity within West Cumberland Hospital during the winter period to assist with flow and improve services and patient experience. Following the winter period successful candidates will be place on a Healthcare bench and be re-deployed within the hospital to have an opportunity to experience other ward areas and departments within Emergency care and Medicine.

After winter pressures you may be moved to another ward.

 

Main duties of the job

You must have a caring approach, be an excellent communicator and be capable of delivering high standards of patient care.

Shift pattern – Days, nights, weekends and bank holidays

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Maths or Equivalent
  • National care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of evaluation process
  • NVQ is Care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to meet basic care needs of patients
  • Ability to carry out routine elements of assesment to enhance patient journey following initial assessment by registered practitioner
  • • Ability to maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to ensure high standards of patient care.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS employment
  • Nursing policies and procedures.
