An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and experienced registered nurse to join our cancer services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the development of the gynaecology cancer nursing service and includes supporting people along the whole pathway including pre-diagnosis to living with and beyond cancer or transition to end of life care. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills and an appetite for delivering a first class service. The post holder will have a wealth of experience working with people affected by cancer and a good understanding of both local and national gynaecology cancer guidelines and pathways.

Working for our organisation

They will work in partnership with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure high quality services are provided to all patients. The post holder needs to work autonomously and will lead on own portfolio of work but also be a key member of the gynaecology cancer nursing team.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • 1st level RGN
  • 1st level degree or equivalent experience
  • Speciality related course at degree level
  • Mentorship course
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • Non-medical prescriber (or willing to work towards)
  • Advanced communication course
  • Sage and Thyme course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant, relevant (post registration) experience with two years or more in speciality area
  • Ability to conduct nurse led clinics
  • Facilitate and support learning
  • Awareness of Quality Assurance/peer review process
  • Management and leadership experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of leading a change project
  • Experience of quality assurance/peer review process
