Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse for ward 301 at the Royal Derby Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated leader who wants to develop in their career. You will be working in partnership with Matron, work alongside the existing ward leadership team ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
The successful individual will provide effective and visible leadership on our busy 18 bedded Acute haematology ward.

The post is a full time, 37.5 hours per week role.
Applicants must hold a current NMC registration, and have demonstrable post registration experience with Band 6 experience in Acute Nursing. The applicant must be able to demonstrate their leadership experience. Haematology / Oncology experience is desirable but not essential.
An informal visit is strongly advisable to see what we do.
The Cancer BU consists of 5 Inpatient wards, Combined triage assessment unit, chemo unit and outpatients at RDH and QHB
Main duties of the job
The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, be dynamic and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role. They also need to demonstrate that they are supportive and are able to manage the daily challenges of being a ward manager. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour. We believe that all exceptional Nurses have something extra to offer our patients beyond their training and professional registration, from a kind word or a helping hand to providing a positive outlook or going the extra mile. So, at our Trust, we want to work with people who really share our values in continuously improving our patient experience. The successful applicant will take overall nursing responsibility for the day to day ward environment. They will ensure that high standards of nursing care is provided and drive forward both service development and quality improvement . They will also be ensuring we promote patient safety and a positive patient experience. This role is importantly also about being an exemplar role model for the Nursing Team and steering their development and support. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours and is essential they can provide both clinical care to patients.
