Job overview
We are seeking a proactive, dynamic, and experienced nurse manager to lead our Gynaecology Outpatient Services. The successful candidate will support our MDT in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of outpatient services and clinics. You will be responsible for operational management, clinical leadership, service development, and staff support. The post holder will lead the team in delivering high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients accessing Gynaecology outpatient services, ensuring a safe environment and providing a high level of information and support to patients. The postholder will demonstrate excellent leadership skills and support the delivery and development of safe, effective care through undertaking audits, benchmarking and quality improvement work. You will deputise for the Gynaecology matron in their absence.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical expertise and specialist advice to women accessing gynaecological outpatient services. Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, holistic nursing care that is current, effective, and aligned with Trust policies. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients undergoing assessments, investigations, and procedures. Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professional attitudes and behaviours.
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the gynaecology outpatient department. Provide strong, clear, and consistent leadership to both qualified and unqualified staff. Promote effective communication within the multidisciplinary team, patients, and relatives. Engage the team in developing a positive learning culture, ensuring staff are supported to develop their skills and knowledge in alignment with the appraisal process.
Support and participate in all aspects of clinical governance, including audits and quality assurance. Identify and implement initiatives to improve patient care and service delivery. Ensure compliance with current standards and legislation relevant to gynaecology services. Manage staffing, resources, and scheduling to ensure smooth service delivery. Contribute to strategic planning and development of outpatient services. Liaise with other departments and external partners to ensure integrated care pathways.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical
· Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice and support to women across the Gynaecological Nursing services, ensuring that the provision of evidence-based nursing care is maintained.
· Ensure a holistic approach to care that is current, effective and evidence- based for every patient, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
· Lead in developing an environment in which clinical practice is developed and disseminated in conjunction with the clinical leads.
· The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care.
· The post holder will be responsible for leading a nursing team who are trained to deliver specialist, complex care.
· Demonstrate advanced specialist skills/knowledge and expertise in clinical practice.
· Lead on setting, monitoring, maintaining and developing high quality, patient-focussed care.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Senior nurse with post-registration and specialty demonstrable experience.
- Proven evidence of demonstrable experience of taking charge or managing a clinic caseload.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable experience of research and audit.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration.
- Educated to degree level in healthrelated subject (or willingness to commence degree programme within 1 year in post) or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of demonstrable experience and/or education, training and development
- Teaching and mentorship qualification
- Proven evidence of continuous professional development
- Willingness to complete appropriate development programme
- Computer literacy
Desirable criteria
- Educated to Masters’ Level
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good organisational and communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude in the presence of others.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable experience of managing and controlling a budget.
