An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cancer Services directorate, for a HPB Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to work within the HPB Cancer CNS team.

 We are looking for a dynamic flexible individual who has excellent communication skills and experience within the field of HPB Surgery and/ or Oncology or relevant cancer experience across the Peninsula.  This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, self-directed individual to develop their skills in managing and caring for the complex and diverse needs of the HPB Oncology patient and their families across the cancer pathway, providing expert advice and coordinated support to patients with a diagnosis of pancreatic, biliary, gall bladder, small bowel, colorectal liver metastases and neuroendocrine cancers.  We are looking for an experienced Nurse who is committed to delivering high standards of holistic care to all patients, working with and towards cancer and peer review standards and responding to service development needs.

Main duties of the job

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

·       Assess, plan implement and evaluate expert holistic nursing care and provide support to patients within the HPB service and their carers. The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the co-ordination and organisation of individual treatment programmes throughout the HPB pathway/ illness trajectory, and work to develop communication across divisional and organisational boundaries.

·       Provide specialist nursing advice and psychological support to patients, carers, and health care professionals.

·       Acts as a resource, and contributes to the education and training of other health care professionals as required.

·       Contributes to service development, audit and research projects and helps develops educational packages according to need of care.
