Job overview

An opportinity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and caring individual has arisen on George Earle Ward. Do you have an interest in improving the care of patients with stroke and neurological events? Are you looking for a new challenge in a fast paced ward working alongside a full multi-disciplinary team? If so we would like to hear from you. George Earle is a 28 bed acute ward specialising in stroke, neurological patients and general medical patients of all ages. We have 3 hyperacute beds to enable rapid delivery of stroke treatment. You will work as part of an MDT consisting of nursing, medical, various therapists  and discharge team. You will be supported with a specific ward induction alongside-if needed- Trust HCSW induction and by a friendly team who will value your input 

Main duties of the job

Working clinically you will support the team to provide safe and quality care to the designated patients in your care, and to support the ward as a whole as needed.

Following training you will undertake various clinical tasks including Cannulation and Venepuncture, Wound Care, taking vital signs and escalating any issues, recording them accurately, performing ECGs, blood sugar checks and adult assessments including MUST scoring.

You will work as part of the developing and dynamic team of nurses and  the wider MDT, to improve the patient experience and progress the care of a wide range of medical patients. You will be supported with training both formally and informally.

The Trust provides a full HCSW induction and ongoing support. You have access to and employee assistance programme plus occupational health if needed as well as wellbeing events free of charge.

Interview patients and carers as part of the assessment process

Manual handling of patients and loads and use of mechanical aids

Undertake and record clinical observation, routine tests, and outcome measures

Prioritising and documenting care. Monitoring clinical observations,  and multitasking and adapting through shift as required.
