This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive and forward-thinking Children & Young People team as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes safety, dignity & wellbeing.

Working autonomously within your scope of practice, you'll undertake advanced clinical assessments, formulate management plans & make complex clinical decisions for people using our services. You'll use your advanced knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose & manage a range of presentations, incorporating pharmacological considerations where appropriate.

Alongside delivering expert clinical care, providing leadership, guidance & support to colleagues, helping to ensure high standards of practice.  You will work closely with MDTs to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.

We are committed to supporting the development of advanced practice & welcome applications from clinicians who have completed, or are working towards, an approved MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

As a Trainee ACP, you will also contribute to shaping & improving services through clinical audit, research, quality improvement, supervision & education, the opportunity to influence change, share best practice & help create a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality person centred care which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence based.

To advance practice through the successful completion of an approved programme of study (i.e MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice).

To undertake independent assessment and management of service users to incorporate pharmacological considerations, where appropriate making complex clinical decisions regarding service user management and clinical outcomes.

To provide advanced clinical advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis and advanced decision making skills.

To manage change, to monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence based practice, clinical audit, research and education. To promote and demonstrate best practice by integrating evidence into practice.

Person specification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Registered practitioner to degree level (minimum 2.2 award required)
  • Membership of the relevant Professional Body

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a provider organisation and within a relevant specialty as Registered Practitioner Band 6 level.
  • Evidence of risk management skills and experience

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of proactive involvement in the supervision and development of members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of delivering education and training in practice.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Contribute to the clinical management and coordination of care for individuals with eating disorders across the lifespan, applying specialist knowledge of developmental, psychological, and physical health needs of both younger and older populations.
  • Provide expert liaison and consultation with acute medical settings, including paediatric and adult inpatient units, to support safe transitions, timely discharge planning, and continuity of care for individuals with eating disorders who require hospital-based treatment
  • Undertake and support physical health monitoring and intervention for service users with eating disorders, including management of risk associated with malnutrition, electrolyte imbalance, and refeeding syndrome, working closely with primary care, acute services and specialist medical teams.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver NICE-concordant, evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, such as CBT-E, MANTRA, or family-based approaches, adapting these to the developmental stage and complexity of need within an all-age service.
