Job overview
The Specialist Stop Smoking Service is seeking to recruit a Stop Smoking Facilitator to work within our service.
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work within the Team, providing behavioural change advice and facilitate voucher prescribing treatment to smokers. As a key staff member the successful candidate will be passionate about improving health outcomes for the residents . This includes raising the profile of, and facilitating access to stop smoking provision in key settings and improving referral pathways into stop smoking provision.
Although previous experience of community-based health improvement initiatives would be helpful, training and support will be offered if required.
The successful candidate must be able to work occasional late evenings and some Saturdays.
Main duties of the job
The Stop Smoking Facilitator will be required to provide smoking cessation behavioural change advice, support and assessment, and where appropriate facilitate voucher NRT treatment to clients who want to stop smoking. This includes raising the profile of, and facilitating access to stop smoking provision in key settings and improving referral pathways into stop smoking provision.. To provide resources, training and guidance to staff and volunteers offering smoking cessation brief interventions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide smoking cessation behavioural change advice, support, assessment and where appropriate facilitate voucher NRT treatment to clients and where applicable, family members who want to stop smoking.
To coordinate stop smoking sessions and to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service as required including evenings and Saturdays.
To ensure that Advisers are appropriately resourced and to share responsibility for calibration of monitors.
To offer support, resources, training and appropriate guidance to health related staff, including Children’s Centre and voluntary sector staff in accordance with Making Every Contact Count.
To ensure that clients who receive smoking cessation treatments are followed up and offered continued care in appropriate settings in the community.
To assist with organising and distribution of materials and represent the Stop Smoking Service at promotional events.
To work closely with and regularly report to the assigned Stop Smoking Specialist Adviser to monitor progress and agree objectives.
To enter, collect and present (where required) appropriate data to meet monitoring and audit requirements and maintain and store robust records which meet data protection requirements.
To appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives to improve services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 or equivalent in health care related subject
- evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- IT qualification (ITQ at level 2 or equivalent)
- Level 2 smoking cessation training
- Counselling skills training
