Job overview

University hospitals Sussex are looking for an experienced, dynamic nurse, who is passionate about the patient experience and the delivery of quality, patient focused care, within breast team as a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist, depending on experience. The post is  part  time, permanent post. Flexible working will be considered.

The main site is The Park centre for breast care Brighton but also  the possibility  of cross site cover at Worthing breast unit.

 



Main duties of the job

The post holder will  provide support and information throughout the cancer pathway.  This post is an Associate nurse specialist.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post involves acting as a key worker and advocate to patients diagnosed with breast cancer, providing support and information throughout their cancer pathway, as well as participation in service development.

The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse who has had a previous clinical background in breast care or Oncology nursing. Advanced communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Post registration or equivalent experience in breast screening / breast cancer
Desirable criteria
  • Palliative care course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience at band 6/7 required in breast screening/ breast care preferably as a CNS
  • Palliative care experience
  • Worked as an autonomous practitioner
  • Experience of excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Evidence of ability to work across professional teams and organisational boundaries
  • Experience of working in a large multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Previously worked in Oncology
  • Working towards a Masters
