Job overview

Are you an experienced theatre practitioner looking to develop your leadership skills within a fast-paced trauma environment?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Scrub and Anaesthetic Practitioner to join the Trauma theatre team in Main Theatres at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH), Brighton.

Main Theatres is a busy 24/7 nine-theatre department delivering specialist services across Trauma, ENT & Head & Neck, Vascular, Digestive Diseases, Gynaecology, CEPOD and Obstetrics, and forms part of the Major Trauma Centre for the region.

Working within the Trauma service, you will support both planned trauma lists and emergency surgical activity.

As a dual-skilled Band 6 practitioner, you will provide scrub and anaesthetic support, scrubbing for a wide range of procedures including major orthopaedic trauma, polytrauma cases, fracture fixation and emergency surgery.

You will lead on the coordination and day-to-day running of Trauma theatres, ensuring specialist trauma instrumentation and equipment are available, responding to changes in theatre lists and maintaining effective patient flow. The role also includes out-of-hours leadership, assisting with the prioritisation of CEPOD lists, and supporting other theatre specialties when required.

You will also support the supervision and development of junior staff, HCAs and learners, including student nurses and student ODPs.
