Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, nurse with a passion for cardiology to join our committed team on the Acute Cardiac Unit in the Specialist Medicine Division. 

ACU is a 27 bedded Cardiac Unit. Should you be successful you will work within a specialised area, providing high quality care to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions including heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, valve disease and endocarditis. Working within this specialty you will be expected to take on extended roles associated with the specialism. 

The ward is supported by an enthusiastic and established multidisciplinary team and we are seeking a dynamic and motivated nurse that is an enthusiastic team player.   • To practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) code of conduct.
  • To be accountable for own professional practice.

  • Always maintain high level of patient care.
  • When required, to liaise and work collaboratively with other specialities to ensure the consistent management of patients.
  • Provide individualised education and psychological support to patients and their relatives.
  • Determine barriers to client education and/or health behaviour change.
  • Ensure that privacy and dignity of patients is maintained when providing nursing care.
  • Ensure that any safeguarding risks are escalated appropriately to enable investigation.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NMC PIN
  • Experience working in an acute hospital setting or the ability to utilise pre-registration experience to demonstrate an understanding of the relevant settings.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of working in cardiology
  • Experience of working in a Level 2/3 patient care setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic Computer Skills Administration of medications and/or treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines and Trust Policy.
  • Ability to write clear and succinct reports.
Desirable criteria
  • ECG training
  • IV administration, venepuncture, cannulation.
