This is a development role for motivated individuals looking to progress and develop into a Senior Healthcare Support Worker. Over the course of 6 months you will be supported to complete your Care Certificate, undertake fundamental acute care competencies and progress to a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker.

No previous healthcare experience is necessary. We will provide all the training you need before you start working on one of our wards. You will start on our induction programme to help you settle into our organisation and receive 2 week supernumerary time once on the ward.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs.
  • To assist patient to mobilise where appropriate.
  • Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the qualified nurse. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the Nurse or Nurse in Charge.
  • Testing specimens and recording the results.
  • Under the supervision of the qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety
  • To restock departmental areas as required reporting any shortages to the NiC/Ward Manager

Qualifications

Desirable criteria
  • Level 2 or 3 Healthcare related qualification
  • National Care Certificate
  • Maths and English GCSE passes at grade D or above or functional skills level 2 numeracy and literacy.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, commitment and a compassionate attitude towards working with patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous care experience
