Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nursing Associate to join our General Outpatient team at Eastbourne hospital.

This is a full-time position for a qualified registered Nursing Associate, working in clinics across all the medical specialities and several of the surgical  specialities within General Outpatients.  It presents an opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and gain knowledge across a broad range of specialities, with the opportunity to specialise in areas of particular interest.

The core working hours are 4 days a week,  from 8am - 6pm, flexibly rostered across Monday to Friday, with optional weekend working.

Main duties of the job

As an NMC‑registered practitioner, the Nursing Associate will work across outpatients to deliver safe, compassionate, person‑centred care while supporting the smooth and efficient running of clinics. They will contribute to the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, using evidence‑based practice and following relevant local and national policies, protocols and guidance.

The Nursing Associate will delegate duties appropriately and support the development and supervision of junior staff, student nurses and trainee Nursing Associates. They will act with professionalism and integrity, serving as a positive role model and promoting equal opportunities. The role requires problem‑solving, a positive approach to challenges and the ability to encourage others.

They must understand individual patient needs, adapting care to ensure services are responsive and person‑centred. The role involves helping to create an inclusive environment where differences are valued and supported, and promoting a culture of honesty, learning and shared experiences.

The Nursing Associate will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating clear and compassionate communication. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care
  • NMC Registration as a Nursing Associate
  • Fully Completed Care Certificate
  • GCSE Grade A-C English & Maths or Equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Have completed training or study in areas relevant to the role applied for, or be willing to undertake, for example: venepuncture, urethral catheterisation, leg ulcer dressings (depending on area of practice)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience relevant to area of practice applied for
  • Experience of working with patients & families from a range of cultures & backgrounds
  • Experience of self-directed working and working as part of a team
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Have experience in more than one area of practice
