Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Practitioner for  who brings innovation, specialist skills, and enthusiasm to lead the nursing element of our Paediatric Epilepsy Service. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the Specialist Paediatric Nursing Team and will be supported to provide visible leadership and effective management to the epilepsy team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, CYP centred care.

This role requires close collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a cohesive, coordinated, and effective approaches across the service. The post holder will champion quality improvement initiatives and demonstrate a clear commitment to promoting and embedding our Trust values within everyday practice.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Nurse/Clinical Practitioner will promote the vision and 
values of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, leading by 
example and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in 
their leadership behaviours and how we support our teams 
and deliver our services 
 
The Nurse/Clinical Practitioner will be able to provide highly 
specialist advice and able to assess, plan, implement and 
evaluate patient care  
 
The Nurse/Clinical Practitioner will act as lead specialist in a 
defined area. 
 
The Nurse/Clinical Practitioner provides specialist education 
and training to staff, students, carers and patients  
 
The Nurse/Clinical Practitioner undertakes research and 
leads clinical audits in own specialist area

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse/Professional and hold active registration with relevant Professional body
  • Degree level qualification relevant to role
  • Post Graduate qualification at Masters level relevant to role to demonstrate specialist clinical and leadership skills
  • Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
Desirable criteria
  • Project management/Quality improvement qualification
  • Restorative supervision/Professional Nurse Advocate qualification
  • Education/Training qualification
  • Advanced Clinical Practice modules at Masters level (Physical Assessment, Prescribing)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in area of specialist knowledge and expertise
  • Demonstrate experience of:- Quality/Service improvement Project Management Leadership People Management Innovative and inspiring leadership and clinical practice Research or audit Education and Training
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience or relevant health care organisation

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Leadership skills that demonstrate the ability to manage self and lead others, able to motivate and inspire a team
  • Day to day management of a team/service, able to allocate and manage staff organise placements, support learners, provide supervision and line management responsibilities and record keeping. Ability to promote staff wellbeing and manage performance
  • Demonstrates knowledge of National NHS and Nursing agenda including national/local performance targets.
  • Able to contribute to/interpret policy change and make recommendation for service improvements.
  • Expert clinical skills and competence relevant to role to support innovative, evidence based practice.

  • Flexibility in working hours and patterns
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (for domiciliary community role) and ability to travel between sites
