Job overview

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Acute Oncology Cancer Support Worker.

We are delighted to have an opportunity to recruit a Acute Oncology Cancer Support Worker to join our established team of Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists and one Acute Oncology Cancer Support Worker.

Working with Acute Oncology to improve the patient experience, you will coordinate referrals to ensure that patients are seen promptly and by the most appropriate person.

You will work mainly at EDGH Hospital, and be expected to cross cover where needed.

Main duties of the job

You are likely to have some experience of cancer and may have a background in healthcare. This is not an essential factor and transferrable skills and a willingness to learn are equally important.

It is essential to have excellent interpersonal skills, to be flexible and enthusiastic. To work with inclusivity and kindness, mindful of our Trust values.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grades A-C) or equivalent
  • BTEC HNC in Health or social care or equivalent recent professional development and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Training in foundation degree in health and social care equivalent
  • Coaching or teaching qualification
  • Foundation degree in health and social care
  • Willingness to undertake learning and development courses
  • Care certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant health or social care experience or equivalent
  • Experience of multi-professional working
  • Experience in the use of data management and IT systems
  • Evidence of good communications skills both verbal and non-verbal
