Are you a passionate paediatric nurse or AHP ready to take the next step in your career? We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Trainee Paediatric Nurse/AHP Practitioner, with full support to develop into a Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
As part of your induction, you’ll be enrolled on the Coventry University MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, equipping you with the qualifications and skills required for autonomous practice at Band 8a level.
Main duties of the job
What you’ll do:
Deliver expert, holistic care to children and young people across SSPAU, inpatient wards, and ED.
Undertake advanced clinical assessments, diagnostics, and decision-making to plan and evaluate care.
Prescribe medications, request and interpret investigations, and perform procedures including lumbar puncture.
Manage complex presentations and make timely referrals within and beyond the Trust.
Work closely with senior clinicians and APNPs, contributing to the medical Tier 2 rota, responding to resus calls, and accepting acute referrals from GPs.

- Masters level qualification relevant to role
- Post Graduate qualification at Masters level in advanced clinical practice, relevant to role to demonstrate specialist clinical and leadership skills
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, and additional job specific specialist skills/procedures
