Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in urgent/emergency care triage? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our amiable and professional nursing and medical team at Lewes Urgent Treatment Centre!
Our Centres are dedicated to providing urgent and unscheduled care to the Lewes community and surrounding areas, operating from 08:00 to 20:00 hours, seven days a week.
This is a particularly thrilling time to become a part of our team. We have established an Urgent and Emergency Clinical Reference Group to explore innovative ways to enhance our staffing models, clinical pathways, training, and supervision. This initiative aims to ensure all our staff are well-supported and equipped to deliver the highest quality of care.
As a Triage Nurse, you will:

Main duties of the job
At the Urgent Treatment Centre, your responsibilities will include triaging, evaluating, and prioritising patients upon arrival, ensuring they receive safe, efficient, and effective care within a set target time. You must maintain a composed and confident presence, demonstrating outstanding nursing and communication abilities, as well as the ability to effectively manage and prioritise workloads.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• As a member of the team works co-operatively with the multi-disciplinary team, ensures the effective and safe delivery of nursing care ensuring the highest possible standards of care received by patients and their carers while in the unit.
• Works in a streaming capacity assess patients on arrival to the Unit and
prioritising them according to clinical need and streaming to the appropriate service within the Unit.
• Works within agreed boundaries of practice giving support, guidance,
supervision for staff nurses students and receptionists for the unit.
• Developing skills and knowledge to assess, plan and deliver care, refer to relevant speciality or outside agencies supported by the Emergency Nurse Practitioner on duty as required.

- Completed and obtained RN and has current live PIN on NMC register
- Triage/First Contact Module
Desirable criteria
- Physical Assessment of Adults
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post qualifying experience in an acute environment
- Experience in critical care/emergency care
- Evidence of developing interpersonal skills
- Experience in supervision of student nurses/allied health professionals
- Triage and prioritising care
Skill/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of understanding and insight into current issues in nursing and NHS
- Aware of responsibilities in relation to NMC Professional Code of Conduct
- Competent in recording and interpreting physical vital signs
- Basic Life support
- Able to record ECG’s
- IT literate
Desirable criteria
- Application of Plaster of Paris
