Job overview

To provide a high-quality dermatology nursing service to both in-patients and outpatients within the Trust.

 

To assist in the setting and monitoring of quality standards in relation to clinical practice and specialist nursing advice for dermatology patients and in relation to NICE guidance and Trust Policies and Procedures.

 

To assist in promoting an environment conducive to learning for all the individuals working within the clinical team and support the orientation of new nursing staff to the team.

 

To liaise with other agencies and departments in both primary and secondary care.

 

To work within the Trusts' policies and procedures to assist in achieving the aims of the division's business plan. To provide clinical expertise as part of the Dermatology Team and ensure the provision of high quality evidenced based nursing care to patients with diagnosed dermatological conditions.

 

Please note: This role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship under the current UK immigration rules, which set specific salary and skill thresholds. Main duties of the job

To provide nurse led outpatient clinics - including surgery, paediatric, photodynamic therapy and phototherapy.  

To communicate and support the Dermatology team, patients and carers to meet high standards of service delivery based on demand.

To teach and support learners including medics, senior Healthcare assistants, student nurses and learners within the wider team.

To maintain skill competencies and ensure practice is based on validated evidence based  resources.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide a high-quality dermatology nursing service to both in patients and outpatients within the Trust. This will include cross site working practices.  

 

To run nurse led clinics with the support of either a Consultant, Clinical Lead Nurse and CNS’s – Dermatology. To undertake assessments, initiate and plan appropriate treatment and investigations and evaluate programmes of care for a defined group of patients.

 

To act as a resource on advising nursing and medical staff on dermatology patients nursing needs.

 

To assist in the setting and monitoring of quality standards in relation to clinical practice and specialist nursing advice for dermatology patients and in relation to NICE guidance and Trust Policies and Procedures.

 

To assist in promoting an environment conducive to learning for all the individuals working within the clinical team and support the orientation of new nursing staff to the team.

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse / Active NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Nursing/Health related subject
Desirable criteria
  • Dermatology experience
  • Paediatric training/experience
  • Experience of managing and developing others
  • Leg ulcer management - systemic medications in dermatology - phototherapy -photodynamic therapy
  • knowledge of current dermatology issues
