Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an innovative and dynamic place to work. Our values - safe, caring, excellent – are at the core of everything we do and are the basis for our interactions with patients and each other.
The Trust is rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission who described our services as effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Basildon Hospital was the first in the country to be rated as ‘outstanding’ for maternity care and our ambition is to become ‘outstanding’ in as many services as possible over the coming months and years.
We offer an extensive range of acute healthcare services at Basildon University Hospital, Orsett Hospital and the St Andrew’s Centre in Billericay. We also provide specialist cardiothoracic services for the whole of Essex and further afield at The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, which has a reputation for leading developments in cardiac surgery and cardiology procedures.
We work collaboratively with our NHS partners in mid and south Essex to ensure that local people have access to the best possible healthcare services.
We are part of UCLPartners, an academic health and science partnership with over 40 members who together form one of the world’s leading centres of medical innovation and education. We offer a professional environment where all staff have excellent education, coaching, mentoring, training and development opportunities.
We are looking for talented individuals who are committed to working as part of our healthcare team delivering an excellent, caring service to patients.
Take a look our Trust values video on our website and see if you have what it takes to be one of the team!
The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC) is based on the site of Basildon Hospital and provides specialist treatment and support for patients across Essex. The impressive £60 million Centre is among the most modern of its kind in the country, with the latest equipment and technology throughout, including state-of-the-art operating theatres and cardiac catheter laboratories.
Offering specialist diagnosis and treatment for people with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, patients benefit from the highest quality treatment and care delivered by a team of experienced staff who value teamwork.
As a Centre of Excellence, the CTC prides itself on the delivery of complex, high quality, patient focused, nursing care. The staff working within the CTC demonstrate a real commitment to ensuring the patient remains central to all that they do, working collaboratively to uphold the Trust values to be safe, caring, excellent….together.
We are currently looking to appoint enthusiastic, ambitious and committed nurses to join our existing team, delivering expert nursing care to patients undergoing private cardiology procedures and cardiothoracic surgery within the CTC. The unit is now managed by the Trust as part of Nash Private Patients, reinvesting the money generated through private practice back into the Trust, and offering patients the ‘best of both’; private care with the backup of the NHS. This is an exciting time to join the Brook Suite, as we support the unit’s growth and enhance future service development.
As this 8-bedded private unit also delivers care to subspecialties, we are looking for individuals who are confident, competent and adaptable.
We are looking for excellent core nursing skills. Cardiology and/or Cardiothoracic Surgery experience is desired but not essential, as we are willing to support those demonstrating a commitment to learn, in the development of a wider knowledge base and skill set.
We strongly encourage and accommodate education and training and offer a structured orientation programme with one to one support from our senior nurse mentors. We also work closely with our colleagues in the wider CTC, allowing staff on the unit to access peer support and practical experience in all areas of practice.
We are looking to recruit individuals who possess excellent communication skills and are passionate about making a difference. Our Friends and Family feedback is excellent and we are very proud of the service we provide.
Do you want to become a member of the team, have an opportunity to grow and be part of this journey? If so, we would love to hear from you.
